The secret to successfully keeping African Cichlids begins with Eco Complete African Cichlid Substrates. These mineralogically complete substrates contain aragonite to maintain the high pH African Cichlids need. Eco Complete Cichlid Substrates add calcium, magnesium, carbonate and more to recreate the African Rift Lake environment. Naturally buffers aquarium water to combat downward pH drift in African Cichlid tanks without the constant use of additives. Eco Complete African Cichlid Substrates are packed with live, water-purifying bacteria to jumpstart the cycling process. Its high internal surface area allows more room for water purifying bacteria to thrive. Also packed in a water conditioner to remove chlorine/chloramines and reduce fish stress.
- - Complete substrate for aquariums housing African Cichlids
- - Natural buffers maintain a high pH African Cichlids enjoy
- - Packed with living bacteria to cycle new cichlid aquariums

Questions
Will this work with Shellies. Lake Tanga Mika
Can I use a gravel vacc on this?
Is this the same black & white mix substrate Caribsea makes without eco bacteria? Reason I ask, I really like there other one without because high amount of black. Does this have around 50/50 mix like the other I'm referring to?
how long does it take for the water to clear, I put the gravel in without emptying the water solution in the bag
- Thank you for your question. According to the manufacture the water should clear within 48 hours.

Freshwater community fish tank
- Thank you for your question. You may utilize this substrate in your aquarium, however, please keep in mind this does have bacteria to keep a higher pH level as it is for Cichlids.

Zack Black Grain Size
- Thank you for your question. The Zack Black has large pieces just like the gravel. These range from approximately 4.0 mm to10.0 mm in size for both the Cichlid gravel and the Zack Black.

Can I use the Zack black with an undergravel filter (from Lee's) or is it too fine? I am planning on mixing with the Cichlid gravel.
- boatbyrd, Thank you for your question. The Zack Black Eco-Complete Cichlid Substrate can be used with an undergravel filter.

How many bags of sand do I need for an 75 gallon fish tank
- The bag states 1 -2 pounds per gallon

Can this substrate be used for Discus and Angel Fish?
- I wouldn't myself. This substrate is for high pH fish, like African cichlids. Discus and angels wanted softer water with low pH levels. Use a neutral substrate.
Helpful?
Does rinsing the 'White' Cichlid sand make it ineffective for pH help.
- No, rinsing won't effect the pH influence of the sand. However, if the bags have live bacteria (like Eco-Complete), then use de-chlorinated water.
