the work was worth it

I purchased this sand in stores because it was the least expensive. After reading many reviews I knew I had a laborious task ahead of me. I understood the trade off. I wanted better conytrol, so I rinsed a half a bag at at time in a clean plastic shoe box in my kitchen sink. I timed one half of a bag and it took about 13 minutes at about 12 or thirteen rinses. I didnt have to use my hands in the sand at all because the force of the water flowing in the box did all the work. I just moved the box in different directions so it would be evenly agitated. I lost very little sand using this method and it was also at th very end. I kept a little bit of water in the sand when I applied it to my tank and yes there was still a litttle milky white that was visible but it was very very little. After I smoothed the sand to my specifictions, I let it sit overnight and allowed gravity to settle the sand over the soil. I cold tell it settled because the small line of water was a little deeper. I then added my live plants and then slowly added in the water. There was a little clouding but it quickly settled within a day or so.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Would not buy this again. While it was cheap, it’s coarse and filthy. Took over an hour to rinse just one bag. I’d return the rest I have if I could.

No, I do not recommend this product.

If you want an aragonite substrate that isn't as fine as sugar-sized sand and isn't as coarse as crushed coral, this is your middle ground. Just remember to rinse it thoroughly or be prepared to deal with a milky aquarium for a good while.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Absolutely filthy sand. It took over an hour to wash 15 lbs of sand by two people. We had to small batch it in a strainer. There was floating black debris and clouds of dust. Previously had bought Nature's Ocean brand and experienced nothing like this. Definitely recommend getting another product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    1. I noticed my fish having spine curvature issues and put it in my tank to give my guppies some calcium. This worked great, and now I have 50 or so fish from just one male and two females.
