The best sand

Great sand. I got this to speed up my saltwater cycle. It does cloud the water right off but 12 hours of running my filter it cleared up nicely. Great looking too.

No, I do not recommend this product.

DO NOT BUY THIS HORRIBLE SAND!

If I could, I would give this sand a NEGATIVE 5 STARS review. It says right on the package that you are NOT supposed to rinse the sand before you put it in the tank. I'm assuming this is because it is live sand and you will rinse the bacteria out of it, thus defeating the purpose and added expense of buying it in the first place. So....we added it directly to the water and it created a thick white cloud that we waited for 3 days to settle, though it never did. Then, we decided to risk damaging the filter but ran the filter for 3 days anyway to see if it would clear up the water and NOPE! The water is only slightly less cloudy and absolutely unusable- and our filter is among the best and most powerful filters on the market. We also tested out the sand at the bottom by lightly stirring it up to see if it was any better and POOF -created more clouds. Final outcome? Removing and throwing out the sand and the water for a 40 gallon tank - major waste of time and money - approximately $50. and several hours of work and aggravation. We called CaribSea and asked to talk to a customer serice rep and they said they would have someone call us back and they never did. Bottom line? SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY AND AGRAVATION! DO NOT BUY THIS LOUSY PRODUCT AND LOUSY SERVICE!

No, I do not recommend this product.

I love the way it looks in my aquarium but the reason I won’t give it full stars was because I’m not sure why there was a ton of water in the actual package? When it arrived, the box was severely damaged and the sand was full of water.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Is there a name for the color??

Will this work for neocarindina shrimp?

Has anyone used this for mollies and/or nerite snails? Looking for hard water, pH stable 7.5-8.5 for them. And do you put this on top of grave for plants liking those conditions?

      1. I don’t have mollies but I do have tiger nerite snails and they do quite well- I put a lot of hiding spots and things to climb and my tank is a planted one as well.

      Can i use for plecos?

Could I use it in a turtle tank?

Can this be used in freshwater tanks? For bettas?

          1. This sand would not be good for a betta because it will raise the ph of the water. It is meant for saltwater aquariums or for freshwater fish species that prefer a higher ph.

          What size sand grade?

          1. Grain Size 1.0 - 2.0 mm
