The Mixed Butterfly Koi is not identified by its colors or pattern, but by their fins. Butterfly Koi have elongated fins that flow through the water, resembling the wings of butterflies. They can come in a variety of colors and patterns, which makes them all the more exciting. Koi can live 25-35 years or more in captivity when properly cared for, and get as large as 3 feet long, so they will need a large space made specifically for koi. They are considered diggers, so use caution when adding plants because they can get uprooted. Use large rocks to help keep the plants anchored down. Feeding many times a day is recommended since they are very active swimmers. Koi are very messy eaters, so be sure to monitor the water quality and perform water changes as needed. They will eat almost any pellet or flake that you offer, but be sure the food has vegetable foods in it. Freshwater food with vegetables will help prevent swim bladder problems.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
If we need to contact you for any reason about your order, shipping of your package may be affected. Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order summary. Orders are subject to verification of payment information by phone or email. We ship for arrival to the customer Tuesday through Friday and Saturday for an extra charge where available.

Hi. My back moor goldfish is currently about six years old and I have grown quite attached to him. I have had him along with some other fish for half my life. But sadly he has developed a large slit on the lower half of his tail. He is not a fan tail. He has a common goldfish tail. It looks quite painful and my accounting has a similar problem. Is there anything I can do. I will be devastated if my beautiful babies die. SOS!! PLS HELP
