Fine if you add water and mash

I have two very bonded cats, one of whom has food allergies and needs hydrolyzed food. They are too bonded to not share food so it has been a struggle finding food that works for both cats. Most hydrolyzed food is dry so I gave this a try since my cat who does not have allergies needs to eat wet food so he does not get diarrhea. At first they did not want to even touch this food. After a while I realized that they would eat it if I added water and mashed the food with a potato masher to get it to a consistency they will eat. I also add purina brand probiotic powder their vet prescribed which they love. I'm so glad I found a solution that works for my cats!

Excellent low calorie alternative to dry HP food

We need our 10 yr. old rescue 14 lb girl to lose 2 lbs, AND she’s allergic to chicken, and we don’t know what else. Most hydrolyzed protein kibble we’ve looked at is VERY high calorie, and she was constantly crying for food, because she could only have 1/2 cup per day. We asked the vet for an alternative, and she suggested BB. It’s 160-ish calories per can, so she can have a whole can plus some of the kibble, which she really prefers, and hit the target 200-220 calories per day. And being HP, 1/2 a can is a very substantial, dense meal so she stays more satisfied than the HP kibble. She does get bored with food, so we’ll see how it goes long term, but so far she’s eating it well. Because it’s very dense, she prefers all pates to have water added and made smoother/soupier, so that could be something to try if your cat isn’t loving this at first.

My cat needs to be on hydrolized wet food. She has no teeth. No matter what I do to make the food palatable, it doesn’t get eaten I can’t rate it because no one will eat it.

My cat liked it, but it didn't like her

Not sure why I was asked to write a second review? My cat developed terrible-smelling diarrhea as I slowly introduced this food to replace Hill's Science Diet z/d which she was declining to eat. I had gotten to 50-50 food combination when this occurred. The z/d food has half the fiber and no Omega 3 or 6 as compared with Blue Buffalo's HF, among other differences. Before trying this food, talk to your vet about its ingredients vs. what you are now feeding your cat and any/all supplements that you are currently giving your cat. Sadly, there are no other canned hydrolyzed protein foods for cats.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not the right food for my 14-year old cat

2catfamly

My 14-year old cat has food allergies so we tried this diet. After three feedings, it was clear that he could not tolerate some ingredient(s) in this food and we stopped. My 2-year old cat seemed to like this food okay. We are now trying a soy based dry food.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Wet Cat Food

The food is like one big block of pate. I have to mash it up for my cat so they can eat it easily. I would have preferred pieces, but there are so few hydrolyzed wet cat foods (this is the only one I could find), that I don't have many choices.

Yes, I recommend this product.
