Black Leopard Wrasse
Description
The Black Leopard Wrasse is a perfect candidate for the expert aquarist for its peaceful behavior, adult size of 4" and elaborate pattern. They can be added into an aquarium in a group of three or more. Like many wrasses, they have the ability to change sex, so the most dominant fish in the group will become the male. They prefer established aquariums, so they can hunt small invertebrates in the sandy substrate. It is strongly advised that the aquarium has a tight-fitting lid because they are known to jump out. Their diet should include frozen meaty foods, marine pellets, flakes, and occasionally a seaweed strip for variety. This wrasse has a high metabolism so they should be fed several small meals rather than two large meals a day. They have dark brown bodies with some yellow by their dorsal fin and littered with white irregular spots. The Black Leopard Wrasse is found in lagoons and seaweed reefs in the Eastern Indian and Western Pacific up to 32 meters deep.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
