Can you use substrate and fertilizer to establish live plants since there's ceramic media in the bottom of this tank?

What do you suggest for a heater for this tank as I want to get one for small tropical fish?

Is this tank suitable for a male betta?

About how many fishes and what kind of fishes can i have in an 8 gall. of water tank?
- You should only put 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon of water. That means if your fish is 2 inches long, you need a 2 gallon tank. If you have 4 fish that are 2 inches long- you need an 8 gallon tank. For an 8 gallon tank- you can have 8- 1 inch fish or 4- 2 inch fish or 1- 8 inch fish- or anywhere in between.

I am about to get a crested gecko and have done lots of research, but am nervous I'll kill my crestie. You see, lots of people have different opinions about additional lighting. 1 breeder said a heat lamp killed many of his crested geckos, while another breeder said it killed her geckos when they DIDNT have a heat lamp. I was having 6 fishes in which 2 were small silver gold fishes,2 Angle fishes and 2 gold fishes. The both silver gold fishes died as well as one angle fish. I don't know why they all keep dying as I have provided them with good water, filter,and food.
I have 2 Mystery Snails and a betta in a 3.5G tank. Tank is filtered and has a heater. One snail has not grown at all while the other has nearly doubled in size. He is lathargic and I rarely see him eat his food or even come out of the shell. His shell has turned to a dull dark brown colour and looks to be cracking a little bit. Does this sound like a water issue? Does he sound sick? What can I do to help him. In the last picture, he is the smaller snail in the front.
