  • - Acrylic aquarium - Acrylic is 10 times stronger and 23% clearer than glass. Acrylic is also a good insulator, so you don't lose as much heat as you would with a glass aquarium
  • - Long-lasting LED lighting - The standard white LED lighting will give your biOrb a classic ambiance. The lighting has an easy on and off switch
  • - 5-step Filtration - Ensures clear, healthy water with biological, mechanical, and chemical filtration, water stabilization and oxygenation. Filter Cartridge - Fitted at the bottom of the aquarium, because that is where most of the fish waste goes
  • - Ceramic media - Surrounds the filter cartridge at the bottom of the aquarium. Over time their honeycomb structure is populated with good bacteria that neutralizes ammonia and nitrates from the fish
  • - All biOrb aquariums operate from a 12V universal transformer & a quiet air pump designed for quiet operation and stability
  • - Easy Maintenance - Depending on your choice of fish species, you may only need around 15 minutes of maintenance per month with our biOrb Service Kit (sold separately)

I bought this a few weeks ago for my home office. I wanted something different to spruce up the room. I picked color accessories to match the room and it looks spectacular! I am going to buy a small one for my daughters room and another one as a gift for my sister. LOVE IT!!

This tank is great! The unique shape combined with the central tube for the undergravel filter makes it a definite focal point in the room. Positives: The filter is excellent. It is very quiet...almost can't hear it when it's plugged in. If it weren't for the bubbles I almost wouldn't believe it was on. The LED light is bright, but not too bright. It lights up the tank without looking garish or disturbing the fish. It comes with "ceramic media" (substrate) so you don't have to worry about buying gravel. Negatives: It was a bit difficult to find suitable artificial plants because the space where the gravel fits around the filter plate is rather narrow, and since the gravel is so large it makes it hard to bury the base. The local Petco does not carry BiOrb plants so we had to substitute. Also, while the round shape allows an unobstructed view of the fish, it distorts pretty badly. Anything toward the back of the tank from where you look is HUGE! It's not really a problem, but it was strange at first. It is very difficult to attach a heater due to the concave sides. I added a 50-watt heater and a few plants and the tank is up and running. Currently it has three platies and they seem happy and healthy. After it finishes cycling I'll add a few more. Love this tank!

We bought this for our granddaughter for Christmas. We are keeping at our home and my husband kept saying, are your sure, this is one more thing for you to do. Well, I remember what the aquariums used to be when our children were little and this is not that complicated at all. So far we only have one fish. I changed the filter and the water in less that a half hour. If I had a pump to pump out the old water and pump in the new fresh water, it would have taken a lot less time than that. Very easy. The only problem I had was a very interested cat who thought he would have a better chance at catching that big old goldfish when the top was off. I was thinking I might even get another one! Great idea! Great product!

Yes, I recommend this product.

I love my Bio Orb, but had trouble keeping it clean. I purchased a eheim aquaball and put it in the back of my large Bio Orb, behind the volcano it virtually disappears. My tank is now clean and clear. I have lots of guppies and neon tetra's, really a nice tank.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Can you use substrate and fertilizer to establish live plants since there's ceramic media in the bottom of this tank?

  1. Hello, we thank you for your inquiry. Our biOrb aquariums are designed and tested for fish only. The live plants roots can interfere with the filtration. If you would like to house live plants, those would go in a terrarium. We hope this helps! Your biOrb Specialist, Erica

What do you suggest for a heater for this tank as I want to get one for small tropical fish?

  1. Hello, we thank you for your inquiry. Some fish require aquarium water to be a specific temperature. To do this the water needs to be warmed by an aquarium heater. Consult with your local aquatics store about the environment your fish needs. We hope this helps! Your biOrb Specialist, Erica

Is this tank suitable for a male betta?

  1. Yes, the biOrb CLASSIC 30L is suitable for keeping a betta fish. The biOrb kit comes with the following: aquarium, air pump, LED lighting, transformer, water treatment, filter cartridge, ceramic media and instruction manual. A heater will need to be purchased separately. We hope this helps! Best Regards, Your biOrb Aquatic Specialist, Jennifer.

About how many fishes and what kind of fishes can i have in an 8 gall. of water tank?

  1. You should only put 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon of water. That means if your fish is 2 inches long, you need a 2 gallon tank. If you have 4 fish that are 2 inches long- you need an 8 gallon tank. For an 8 gallon tank- you can have 8- 1 inch fish or 4- 2 inch fish or 1- 8 inch fish- or anywhere in between.
