What is this ingredient? What is it derived from? Is there another term for it? Is it recommended for cat's? The ingredient listed on Weruva cat food is Menadione sodium bisulfite complex.
- Menadione is Vitamin K3. The FDA and the states that regulate pet food require that foods with 25% fish or more on a dry matter basis to have a certain amount of vitamin K in them in order to be complete meals. The FDA and states set forth regulations that do NOT permit Vitamin K1 and K2 (natural Vitamin K) to be added. Formulas with Vitamin K1 and K2 in them would not be permitted to be sold. We therefore add the only approved source of Vitamin K which is Vitamin K3.
