Took about an hour to put together, but was very easy and simple to follow instructions. The carpeting over the platforms is a soft almost fur like material. I feel like my cats will tear this to pieces, but time will tell. The size of this toy is awesome for my 2 grown cats and I couldn’t get them off it within 30 secs of putting it together. They love it!

The only negative is that the kitty balls come off very easy, however they do send an extra one but yeah they should figure out a better way to secure it, as my cats have broke 2 balls now in under a month. Other than that its amazing very sturdy, easy to put together. My 4 fur babies are very happy. Very thankful to find one that is for cats over 12lbs as I have some big boys. Its also approved by the cat guy Jackson.

Is this made with carpeting or plush material? My tripod kitty needs carpet that she can sink her claws into to climb onto things. Plush will not work with her!

The material is plush but this cat tree is so amazing I have been purchasing the same one for 11 years and currently have 2 backups in storage because I’m afraid they may stop making them.

are there staples holding the material to the platforms/ and if so do they show, where my cat can be scratched by any?

We have not seen staples picking out. We had tree almost a year with 3 cats and it holding well. There are heads of the screws that hold posts and on top of carpet but cats have no problem with them.

We have two fairly large cats, both over 20lbs. Are the perches large? The one we have now, she is flowing over the edges and getting really bad mats from it.

As with most cat furniture - pretty sure it's compressed paper. The same sort of thing used as one time concrete molds. At this price point, it really couldn't be anything else. We have a similar cat tree and my very strong, 17 lb cat, has compressed the sisal enough, that the underlaying material is readily seen

Are the flat landing areas and 3 top beds padded at all? Does the beige material shed?

The top beds are not padded, but they are lined in faux fir. This cat tree doesn't shed at all. I found it fairly easy to put together. Amarkat is the best!
