Great for Hamsters (not big enough for a Guniea)

MirandaPopsOff

As a past fish owner, this is not a tank I would recommend for holding 29 gallons of water because the sealant on the sides isn't great. I, however, bought this for my new hamster; it works great for him. I would definitely recommend this for hamsters.

Yes, I recommend this product.

My go to grow out!

I wanted pretty fish, but... did not realize they were aquatic rabbits. I went from 9 rare cichlids to hundreds over the course of a few years. I now have 8 29 gallon grow out tanks with different sizes throughout my house. I have never had a problem with any of my aqueon tanks. I did have one issue with a T-fin. It was used so there is my disclaimer. It split at the seam from the top and down 4 inches. I came home to a loud filter sound. Wondered why it was low, so I filled it up the 2 inches it was missing. I ate dinner and, saw it even lower. Called my local shop that was closing in a 1/2 hour. Made the 10 minute drive, the replacement tank was in a cart waiting by the register. I was back up and running in a few hours. So after this experience, I don't by the other brand, or any used tanks. Not worth ruining your day, or carpet.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought a 29 gallon aqueon from Petco almost two weeks ago and after having the tank filled for less than a week I woke up this morning to water pouring out of the bottom of the tank. Luckily I haven’t bought any fish or anything as I was just cycling the tank but it was a very unpleasant surprise to say in the least and I will be spending the rest of the day trying to get my floor dry. The tank was flat on an aquarium stand that used to have our 40 gallon tank on it with no issues.

Tank cracked in 3 months and Aqueon was no help!!

PsychRN21

I loved the tank when I got it, but the top right hand corner developed a crack three months later. I contacted Aqueon and they were very responsive at answering my call. Unfortunately, I did not have a copy of the store receipt any longer and I was unable to locate a tag that was supposed to be “under the rocks in one of the corners”. After moving all of the rocks in search of the tag…I was unable to find it. Although I sent all of the information I had, including my Discover transaction, Aqueon did not respond. I am now out $70 and had to purchase a different, much more expensive tank. I wish I had just purchased the more expensive tank from the start and avoided all of the headache I have had because of this particular tank.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Leaking after three weeks

MyPlecoHarry

First Aqueon tank I got was a 20 gallon long. I loved it, but three months there was the LOUDEST crack and it had cracked all along the bottom and water was quickly draining. For context, I had no heavy materials in the tank since it was mostly planted with a couple of resin rock decor (which shouldn’t matter anyway). I replaced it after hours of cleaning and barely saving my fish with this 29 gallon Aqueon tank. I have had it THREE WEEKS and it is leaking along the bottoms left side. I do not know if there is a crack or not but I inspected it before filling with water. I can say the sealant along the edges are gloopy in areas and just don’t look straight as well as a slight gap in between the black bottom rim and the wall of the tank. I’m very upset I have to go through this again so soon and will return this immediately. Do not buy!!!!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Quality Not What it Used to Be

DogsFishSnakes

I have been using Aqueon's tanks for 15 years. In that time, I've purchased at least two dozen of these 29 gallon tanks. When I decided to set up a 29 gallon planted tank in my living room last year, I naturally purchased this tank- it wasn't even a question in my mind that it would be this tank. Everything was great until it mysteriously sprang a leak just 3 months later. Anyone who keeps fish knows this is a big problem- it means that you now have to start the tank cycling process from square one and likely harm your fish and other tank life in the process; not to mention the irreparable damage done to my hardwood floors. I understandably couldn't exchange or return the tank since I'd been using it for 3 months, but I figured this was just a weird fluke so I purchased this exact same tank again. I lost fish, plants, and all my shrimp (and lots of money), but I accepted this loss and started over. Just 3 more months later, another mysterious leak occurred in the same place on the new replacement tank. I saved the animals and immediately trashed the thing. I won't even accept one of these for free. Aqueon knows that their customers spend a lot of hard-earned money and priceless hours of their time caring for their aquariums, the least they could do is make sure the actual tank is sealed properly. Both leaks occurred where the bottom of the tank connects to the front or back piece under the plastic flap, and it seems that this issue could be avoided with simple quality control measures. Petco offers better tanks manufactured by more reliable brands and I will no longer be using any Aqueon products going forward.

No, I do not recommend this product.

BEWARE!!!

DeeNYC

Within about four months of purchasing this tank, it sprang a leak! When I got home from work, the tank only had a few inches of water in it. Thank goodness for that or all of my fish would have been dead! I was shocked and angry because not only did I have to clean up a huge mess but I also had to break down the tank to fix it! Not trusting that this wouldn't happen again, I decided not to repair the tank I mean, it didn't even last six months! I immediately bagged up my beautiful fish and went to Petco. After explaining the situation, I returned my fish. Now the tank just takes up space in my living room!

Not great

I bought it a few weeks ago and noticed a small crack in the interior bottom corner so I exchanged it for the same model. Brought it home and did a water test, it wasn’t filling up and there was a leak along the bottom long edge. Returned it again. I wish I had better luck with this cuz it looks nice.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Will this be restocked in local stores soon?

Will the lid / tank work with an auto feeder?

    1. Yes

Is it good for a baby leopard gecko? And does it have a little net on top so I can put a uvb light?

    1. It should be fine for a gecko. There’s no net but there is a wire mesh tank cover that’s sold separately

    what's the W' L' H" of a 29 gallon aquarium?

    1. Hi there! The dimensions for this tank are 30.25" x 12.5" x 18.75".

hi! i was wondering if this tank would be fit for a ball python (adolescent)?

    1. If it is a hatchling yes, however they grow rapidly and that is not big enough for an adult.

How Much are the lid and lights that comes along with the tank ?

    1. Hi there! Please visit your local Petco to find the lid and lights that will work for you and the fish you plan on housing in this tank! If you'd like additional assistance please give our Aqueon team a call at 1-888-255-4527.

How thick is the black rim on these tanks? I would like to use a lily pipe in this tank, but I'm worried that the plastic makes it too wide to fit. The lily pipe has a glass U-shaped portion that goes over the rim of the tank, ~1.5" within the "U"

    1. Hey there! The frame is approx. 7/8” from the outside to the inner ledge that the hood sits on. This would be enough room for the lily pipe. If you have any more questions about the tanks, feel free to call our friendly Consumer Care team here at 1-888-255-4527.

what are the "absolute" dimensions on this tank, please. Thank you

    1. Hello! This tank measures 30.25 x 12.5 x 18.75 inches.

What is the thickness of the glass, and is it tempered?

    1. Hi! The front sides and bottom are ¼”, end panels are 5/32”. Any panel of any tank has the potential to be tempered based on manufacturing flexibility. Additionally, glass thickness may need to be modified based on the number of holes and hole configuration. If you are looking for a drilled tank, speak with your local Aqueon retailer and they can get you a quote on a proper unit. Drilling of any enclosure will void any factory warranty.
