Good Heater

FishFan42

This is the 2nd Aqueon submersible aquarium heater we've purchased. The first one lasted many years. We like that it's completely submersible and has an indicator to let us know when it's heating. It does its job well.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Don't last very long

This heater works fine, for several months. This is the THIRD heater purchased in two and a half years. Petco won't replace it beyond 60 days. Manufacturer will replace it IF you send it in. Consumer is SCREWED either way. You have to keep your aquarium heated. Petco selection of heaters has been poor whenever my heater failed and needed replacing pronto. I can't believe how weak retailers are ar taking care of their customers. I have had to spend over $150 in less than three years to keep my aquarium heated. I wish our town had another pet supplies store. Petco is just a pretender these days. I will stay away from Petco unless I have no alternative.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Automatic shutoff feature failure

JohnE63

I bought this product a little more than a year ago. 150W. It worked well and was accurate up until a couple days ago. The automatic shutoff feature failed and the water temperature in my 10 gallon aquarium went well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. All of my fish, snail and plants died.

No, I do not recommend this product.

i bought this for a 40 gallon turtle tank. i have it set to 80 and the water stays consistently at 76.4 degrees. doesn't really math up to me, so not really passing muster. i have it almost fully submerged, except top and control part, and it's hanging on the side of the tank.

it's good but is off 3 to 4 degrees. I need to treat ich and get water temps to 84 or so to shorten Ich's life cycle. I have the heater maxed out at 88 degrees and can't get it past a soft 84 degrees

Great heater! I had used a hose to fill my tank so it was pretty cold water, but it heated it up pretty fast considering I have a 55gal tank. But like most heaters it’s hard to adjust the temp to what you want.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Would this work in seawater and a small plastic tank/reservoir approximately 2-3 gallons (starts at 3 leaks to 2 occasionally)? (The reservoir gets pumped to a shallow system of trays which drains back into the reservoir).

  1. It would be too much heater for a tank that small . There are smaller units for situations like yours . Check with your local pet shop or online.

I have a 75 gallon tank filled with 35 gallons of water. My 10 year old turtle lives in the tank. We currently have two filters - one at each end, and this does the job of keeping the tank clean. What size of heater(s) should I use?

  1. we Purchased up to 100 gallon heater for our 92 gallon tank for our fish. You just need to make sure your heater is below the water but base your heater on the gallons of water in your tank

I am looking at a purchasing a 40 gal tank for fresh water fish (guppies, neon tetras, shrimp and frog... ect) will this heater work well for that/them?

  1. Yes, this heater will be fine.

What size wattage heater do I need for my 125gallon tank

  1. The wattage depends on the ambient room temperature and the species of fish. Without knowing much else about the specifics of your fish and environment, we suggest the 200 or 300 watt for the 125 gallon. Please call the Aqueon Team at 888-255-4527 so we can give you more specific advice for your situation.

What wattage heater would I need for a 150 gallon freshwater tank.

  1. The 200 Watt will accommodate up to 75 gallons, so you could use two of these. The ambient room temperature will determine how hard the heater needs to work. Please call the Aqueon Team at 888-255-4527 if you have other questions.

Which one is best for a 60 gallon tank

  1. We recommend the 150 watt.

Is it best too use 1 heater or 2 heaters in a 75 gallon tank

  1. We recommend the 250 watt heater for your tank. If you have questions, please call the Aqueon Team at 888-255-4527.

I have a 55 gallon tank , which one would I need ?

  1. Depending on the room temperature of where the tank is, you will want around a 150 Watt or 200 Watt . If you call our Aquatics Specialists at 888-255-4527, we can suggest a more precise answer depending on your fish and your environment.

My Betta fish hasn't eaten in almost a week. Why would this be? We remove the food after 5 min. and use stress coat to help the water. Any suggestion

  1. Could be a number of reasons. The first things that I would look to improve would be water quality & temperature. Bettas (like most fish) like very clean water. They also like warm water (high 70's). Lastly, I would make sure that they didn't have too strong of a current at the surface of the water. If you habitat has a strong current add plants to break this up and dissolve the water output from the filter. Bettas feed better without strong surface currents.

SKU: 1379011 which is the 8 1/2 in. length heater. What is the diameter of the length of the heating element?

  1. The diameter of the heating element section of these heaters is roughly 7/8" across. The top part expands out to roughly 1 1/4" diameter. Please note, however, the application that you are describing has not been tested with these heaters. It is really not advisable to use these heaters for purposes other than as designed.
