This exact same heater came in a 55g kit i bought in april of 2023. Worked perfectly up until sometime within the last week. Went to do a water change last night. Water felt very cold, immediately looked at the light on the heater, That was on. So i checked my digital thermometer, go figure the batteries were completely dead. (My fault I seen the batteries have been weak i just hadn't gotten them yet) got a double pack of new digital temp readers this morning. Both are telling me the tank is 70⁰ so basically it's not working and its just room temp. So yeah, seems aqueon products only last about a year, already had to replace 2 other items from that 55g kit. Now I gotta go back to the store AGAIN today and get a heater.

I bought this heater 1 year and 3 months ago and it worked fine until yesterday it just randomaly stoped but i would get this again for my turtle

This is a preset heater that can only max out at 76 degrees. I was more so looking for 78

I got this it's a good unit. It does the job. It would be nice to heat sittings heat holds at 76 to 77 degrees no higher.

I purchased this about 45 days ago, added it to my large fish tank as a second heater, and went out of town for a month. This unit did not heat past 75 degrees - based on my subsequent test in a separate, small tank, and Petco said I was beyond my 30 days for return.

Got one used from another tank I purchased. Works just as advertised. You have to have good flow for a preset heater to work. Really any heater but you can adjust to your poor movement with others.

200 watts will be ok, but for that size tank, but depending on the ambient room temperature and what your desired temperature result is, you may need an additional heater. It is not uncommon to use more than one heater in large tanks.

Maybe, depends how critical it is to keep an exact specific temperature. They claim to be factory calibrated but the reality is they can be off a few degrees from the listed 78. However the biggest knock would be the wattage for the tank size, if they fail in the "on" state, it will very quickly cook a tank of that size. However if the tank is in a room that gets quite cold, i.e. an unheated garage or something, then I can see it being more useful. I probably wouldn't do any more than 75 watts for a tank of that size though

I bought a 100w heater for my 30 gal tank and temp doesn’t go higher than 71-72 degrees. I just purchased a 200W so hoping that will bring it up to at-least the 78 degree mark.

You should not use an Aqueon heater for an outdoor pond as it is for indoor use only. You may want to consider a product from a sister company, K&H Products. The brand has pond de-icers.
