Powerful for its size. I wish it was adjustable or if Aqueon sold a 300 gph size. I have a 38 gal (36x12x20). It definitely stirs up detritus at the bottom of the tank which was my main goal as there are areas that I cant reach with a gravel vac. My otos and tetras don't mind but it is a little powerful for my guppies. I positioned it as far upward as possible and it gives the plants a pretty gentle sway (octopus & bacopa).

Yes, I recommend this product.

I was looking to get a little more flow in my 20 gallon tank, but didn’t want anything too strong. I was going to get the weaker Imagitarium power head, but I loved the fact the Aqueon has a pivoting head so I can direct the flow however I wanted. Once suctioned in and powered on, disaster! My poor fish and plants were getting blown all around the tank! I immediately turned it off and saw a flurry of detritus floating all over. The power head works amazing! But definitely way too strong for the 20 gallon tank like it says it’s perfect for. I decided to try it in my 30 gallon long and sure enough the same thing happened! If you’re looking for a light current, this is not the product for you! If you want to run it in short bursts to recirculate waste that’s settled on the gravel so it can be picked up by your filter, it’ll do wonders for that! Had to knock off a star because it doesn’t have an adjustable flow rate, otherwise it’s an easy install, and product works as advertised!

No, I do not recommend this product.
