Description

Please note that the product information displayed is provided by manufacturers, suppliers and other third parties and is not independently verified by Petco.

Aqueon PURE Betta Beads contain beneficial bacteria that help maintain a healthy environment in unfiltered aquariums. The beneficial bacteria aids in maintaining a balanced environment while the enzymes help breakdown organic sludge for better water clarity. These soft biodegradable balls create a fun enrichment activity for bettas while also encouraging their natural foraging behavior. Watch your betta play in the beads like a fun ball pit as they dive in and out. Replace the beads monthly and remove uneaten food for optimal results. If betta beads shrink prematurely, this is a quick indicator that the water hardness is not optimal for your betta. We recommend changing the water with soft (deionized or specially filtered) betta waters.

  • - Provides live beneficial bacteria and enzymes to maintain clear water
  • - Great environmental enrichment activity for Bettas! Watch as they play in and out of the soft gravel like a fun ball pit
  • - Soft biodegradable gravel encourages the natural foraging behavior of bettas for mental stimulation
  • - Aids in maintaining a healthy aquarium by breaking down organic sludge for a healthy balanced environment
  • - For use in unfiltered betta habitats. Add 1 pouch of betta beads per 1 gallon of water
  • - For best results replace betta beads once a month (add 1 pouch per 1 gallon of water) and perform a 25% water change every 2 weeks
  • - If betta beads shrink prematurely, this is a quick indicator that the water hardness is not optimal for your betta - we recommend changing the water with soft (deionized or specially filtered) betta waters

Not sure if they worked but my betta played in them all the time. They also kept getting stuck to my filter intake making my filter work harder to pull water up into it. I won't be buying these again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bought these followed the instructions and within a few days my Beta (Koi) was dead along with a tetra he had in with him. Worst mistake was thinking these would help, now I have lost a member of my family way before her time. If I could give it skulls it would be 5 skulls (death) but they dont allow zero stars.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought these beads for my tanks and they suck! I have two tanks in one tank that turned into a sludge and there was film at the top of the water that wouldn’t allow my beta to food. In the second tank they shriveled up. My beta with the shriveled up bead is super sick. These are a horrible product and I will never recommend them to anyone! Unless you want you fish dead don’t get these beads.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Would give 0 stars if could. These will kill your fish absolutely horrible! We had one he didn’t last 12 hours in the tank for a new one changed all the water to the water you can get that’s fish ready (beads still in tank) and the second fish was thriving and then went super lathargic and so I took him out put him in his cup with fresh clean fish water and in a matter of 30 min he started getting better. Removed beads did another complete water change and put him back and he’s been a swimming thriving guy since.. DO NOT BUY any type of Betta beads

I bought this a month ago. Killed at least 2 of my fish one of which was a Betta. They shrink and then the fish eat them and then they grow in their stomach.

No, I do not recommend this product.

THIS KILLED MY BETTA! DO NOT BUY!

IF YOU LOVE YOUR BETTA, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT! I bought these beads based on good reviews I saw from other people. I thought they'd be good enrichment for my betta, who was extremely healthy and happy. A few days after adding the beads, he started doing really poorly. Couldn't swim up, super lethargic, basically just laid on the bottom of the tank on his side, barely able to move. I dumped the water immediately and cleaned everything else in the tank. After a few days of intensive cycling and treating the water, my betta improved a little and I was able to get him to eat blood worms from a dropper. However, he still could barely swim up and it was obvious his swim bladder had been impacted since he wasn't able to reach neutral buoyancy. I kept feeding him the blood worms, hoping for some more improvement, but he ended up passing yesterday. My boy would still be alive and happy if I had never bought this product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have used these in a filtered tank since September. They were fine and our betta loved to play with them. We did a water change and used conditioned water from the pet store, they have shrunk up which they never did before. The water is good and healthy

  1. Yes they are!

Are the beads safe for live plants? I stick to live ones because plastic plants have only hurt and torn my betta's fins :(

  1. Hi there! They will not impact the plants. However, please note that the beads are low density, so they won't really help in rooting the plants.
