Aquacultured Juvenile Maldives Black Pearl Clarkii Clownfish are one of the largest of the clownfish species. They are an excellent addition to just about any aquarium as they are very hardy and accustomed to captivity. This clown is reef safe and will eat processed foods. However, the Clarkii are known for being more aggressive and territorial than the Ocellaris Clown. Clownfish are known to change their sex to increase their chance of reproduction and genetic diversity in the wild. A school of clowns are built on a hierachy with the female on top, so the largest clown in a school is always the female. The Black Pearl Clarkii Clown will develop a black pearly coloration as they grow and has three thicker white bands. As they grow the bands will get thicker and become gold in color. The Maroon Clown will grow to be about 6" in size.

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
