Spoiled!

We received a spoiled shipment which caused major digestive issues for our 2 cats. There was no indication that it was bad until our cats ate it and immediately started throwing up and having diarrhea. We had previous cans with no issues but the most recent one was horrible. We won't be buying again.

Go to the grocery store instead

This is literally just chicken breast and rice. Which is... fine, I guess, but it's not cat food. Yeah, it's healthy for your cat to eat it but it's not meeting their nutritional needs. It seems absurd that they can sell this as "cat food" when the packaging even says on the back that it's for "supplemental feeding only." If you're interested in getting this for your cat, just buy the same three ingredients at the grocery store and save yourself some big bucks—your cat won't know the difference!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Kitty liked it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cat gobbled this food up! She can be picky and will turn her nose up if she doesn’t like her food. She devoured this one! She seemed to like the broth in this one, which is great because we all know kitties don’t ever drink as much water as they probably should. So a bit of extra moisture in the food helps.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The chicken breast in broth is the one that i was given. As soon I opened it my cats smelled and went crazy! The can was easy to open & dispense. My cats ate it all, I usually just give one can for both, so I am totally start buying them this type of brand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm so glad I got this chicken breast cat food for my cats. As soon as I opened it, I had a couple of my cats right at my side telling me to hurry up and give them some. All five of my cats ate it up quickly and seemed to really enjoy it. I really love that it is real chicken and can feel good about feeding it to my cats.

Applaws Chicken in Broth

My cats love it. BUT I wish I knew it was shreds (Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see that anywhere in the listing or the label). Shreds cause them to barf occasionally so I may return some.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Thank you for the reply back! Once the can is open would you say to use it up in 3 days tops? I dont plan to use the whole can for one meal (using this as a topper).

  1. I love the smaller cans. I split the small can with three of my cats so they each get 1/3. The bigger can goes to waist. If I would ever open a can and not use it all, I would just refrigerate it for one day tops. The fish doesn’t hold well and don’t want your kitty to get sick. I do love Applaws the variety of flavors. My three kitties have been eating Applaws for years. My cats favorite is Ocean fish in broth.

Can this be given to dogs?

  1. No

What is the taurine content in this? Cats MUST have taurine in their diets.

  1. This is what the Applaws website indicates: "...Applaws [canned food] is a complementary pet food for adult cats, feed alongside a complete... [and] balanced diet. ...intended for intermittent or supplementary feeding only." According to AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) Pet food products bearing the above statement do not meet any of the normal standards for complete and balanced nutrition and do not meet any other special nutritional need, so they are limited to non-continuous or supplemental use. Applaws did not supplement/add the essential amino acid, taurine to this food. It may contain taurine, which occurs naturally in animal muscle, but it is difficult to accurately measure those levels, due to a number of variables including cooking/processing method, diet/nutrition of food animal, and even elapse of time (between slaughter, processing, preservation, and finally consumption). Food labels are are difficult to understand. I wish they were more transparent, easier for everyone read.
