Not accurate

The accuracy is dubious. I have been using test strips and the reading was 6.5. I bought the pH test kit because the store didn't have anything to raise pH in stock, other than what came with the test kit. I decided to test it again with the test kit and it says the pH is 7.6 (or higher). I was confused by the discrepancy, so I used both of them to test plain tap water, which is neutral. The API kit again said the tap water was 7.6 (or more). The test strip reading was 7.0, which is what it should be. So, I will only be using the drops to adjust my pH and not using the solution to test the pH.

No, I do not recommend this product.

When i was at petco, i saw this $7 liquid test kit so i picked up and it worked great. I was testing my water with test stripes which weren't accurate at all. The test stripes said my ph was 7.5 when the liquid test said 6.0. Great product recommend it to anyone.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I found this test much more precise and easier to read than the test strips. The strips are more convenient but when I want a more accurate reading I go with this kit.

Yes, I recommend this product.

the testing strips are easier to read than using the the water sampling kit....... if you use the water sampling kit it does not read correctly especially if your fish that are in a higher alkalinity range. this then would require you to buy another kit to read the higher pH range correctly

Yes, I recommend this product.

How doe these strips work? Exactly what is the process of using them?

  1. 1.Take a sample of the water you want to test using the tube provided. (Fill to the line) 2. Open the PH Test bottle, 3. Squeeze in 3 drops 4. Cover with cap and shake tube for 5 seconds 5. Wait 5 minutes for best results 6. Use the card with the color strips to match the color of the water you're testing to determine your PH level. *Not waiting 5 minutes can result in a false reading If the result shows a lower PH than desired add 2 drops per gallon of "PH UP" and wait about 2hrs. Retest and continue this process until you've reached the PH level you want. If the results are higher than expected add 2 drops per gallon of "PH DOWN" and wait about 2hrs. Retest and continue this process until you've reached the PH level you want.

Is the High Range PH Test for Saltwater?

  1. Thank you for your inquiry with Drs. Foster & Smith. Yes, the pH High Range Test Kit, is for either a fresh or saltwater aquarium.

Do you really need a water tester kit for your aquarium?

  1. YES YES YES YES! Even though betas are pretty hardy you still need a water test kit. Every fish keeper should test their water. I recommend the API master liquid test kit that tests ph,nitrite, nitrate, and ammonia. The test kit can be pricey but its worth it. I had 6 Bettas in the past and i tested their water once a week. Good luck!

what factors effect pH in a freshwater aquarium?

  1. The amount of waste produced by the fish and how often you do water changes will effect pH in a freshwater aquarium.
