The kit is well-assembled and sturdy, comes in its own container for easy storage. The guidebook is written in plain-language and explains both why tests are included and how to perform them. Results are easy to interpret. Would definitely buy again and recommend!

This is a great little kit, as everything you need to test your tank water. I bought this for my Axolotl tank and it just what I needed. The price was great, it arrived quickly and I couldnt be happier.

Best price anywhere. I saved over $20 purchasing the API Fresh Water Test Kit. I always shop at Petco. Petco has healthy fish and animals, great customer service, cheery and helpful people, huge selection of supplies and the only place I shop. Their Bettas are top quality and a large selection of unique colors/styles/sizes. I’ve purchased very expensive bettas ($150+) from top Betta stores from around the USA…and Petco’s bettas are hard to beat. Petco is a must shop pet store. A++

I use it for years, so I purchased it multiple times, my review is not after 5 minutes using.
Right now I have 3 complete kit, and I purchased the last one about 6 months ago... My ammonia was crazy, according the test more than 8ppm in a tank which started about 4 years ago so the cycle has to be good.
I tested with the two other kits and I said no way... 3 different numbers on all...
I chacked the nitrite, nitrate, PH with all the tests...
Seriously???? Not a same result. All these tests shows different results...
I'll never buy it again because absolutely not accurate, you just pay for some illusion... What a great trick...

Not for extreme conditions of any sort. Doesn't test for acidic conditions and could offer a much wider variety. Somewhat misleading as a product.

I bought this kit after I have lost some good pets. I am able to test the water now, and I can make sure that the water is comfortable for my fish and shrimps. Guess what, no more deaths!

Does this test copper levels?
- API does manufacture a test for Copper however it is sold separately from the API Freshwater Master Test kit.

- API Master Test kit is a measuring tool to see what is happening biologically. Please contact API directly and we would be happen to help with any of your aquarium needs.

What products will need to be purchased to fix the problems identified. I’m getting this as a gift so I’m not sure what readings would come back so are there designated products that would need to be used to fix different issues?
- This kit is used to check water parameters like pH, ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. Aside from the pH, everything is adjusted through water changes. Products I’d recommend would be Seachem Prime, Seachem Stabiity, and a gravel vacuum.

How do I store this product? Does the room temperature matter?
- They need to be stored at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. These chemicals are buffers and indicators and would degrade at other temperatures or in sunlight.

- It says it can do 800 tests

How long does this last?
- 800 test total but 160 if you included each of the 5 tests as 1. You usually should test once a week so 160 weeks so a little over 3 years! This test kit is defintley worth the 33 dollars! Also it expires after 3 years

- Thank you for your question. The test kit will register correctly, however, you will want to wait to test the water 24 hours after the Amquel Plus is added.
