KILLS FISH!

This product KILLS FISH. I cleaned my tank and carefully measured the instructed amount to the tank. The fish went to the top of the tank like they were gasping for air. In the morning my red tailed shark was DEAD. After reading some of the reviews here, I can't believe a pet store would carry a product that KILLS FISH! Maybe so they can sell more fish!

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have a 20 gallon tank that had an ugly load of green water. Many reviewers said it killed their fish so I used dosage for a 10 gallon tank (1 ml.) and in 12 hours my tank was pristine with no sign of any algae. And no fish lost or ill.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Beware of dosage - killed all my fish.

Bought because I wanted to get rid of green algae which had built up a bit in my tank. This was recommended to me -but its really made for a larger tank so the dosage for my small one was very little. I didn't put much in but it didn't matter - it killed all my fish in 12 hours. Beware of dosage!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

Will this product help kill Blue Green Algae (BGA) and is it recommended to increase aeration after use in a planted tank?

is this product safe for nerite, mystery, and rabbit snails?

    1. According to the label info it is safe for freshwater fish if used as directed, but do not overdose. DO NOT USE ON freshwater crustaceans including shrimp, crabs, or lobsters. I personally have never had any snails in my tanks, but I believe they actually feed on algae while helping to clean it from the tank. It's never a bad idea to do research on water requirements for snails before adding them or chemicals to a tank!

Can I use this in a tank with live plants?

    1. Yes, Algaefix can be used with live plants.

Hello. Is this product safe to use in a tank with a red eared slider?

is this product safe in a saltwater aquarium with several hermit crabs and a snail?

      1. Yes, this is ok to use with saltwater crustaceans. This product is not safe for freshwater crustaceans.

does this work on brown algae (diatoms)? any remedies you care to pass on that are effective, yet non-toxic to my 11-year old turtle ("mr. turtle") would be appreciated...thx!

Can I use this to kill algae growing on moss?

I have a 2 gallon tank. What amount should i use?

          1. Use an eye dropper and do no more than 2-3 drops.

Is API Algaefix safe to use for aquatic turtles?

          1. Yes, as long as it's dosed correctly.

I added less than 1 ml of the Algaefix to my water with a betta and two snails, 24 hours after adding both of my snails were dead. They were perfectly fine until adding this product. Curious to why?

          1. Directions specifically say NOT to use if you have snails or other crustaceans like shrimp, lobster and I would think crawfish.
