Just like you, your cat or kitten is a unique individual and her feeding requirements will vary with breed, environment, age and activity. That's why we suggest using the feeding guide as a starting point, and monitoring your cat or kitten's weight and adjusting amounts as needed. We also recommend feeding her twice daily and always keeping fresh, clean water available. When switching diets, it's important to transition your cat or kitten as it takes time for her digestive system to adapt to the richer nutrient levels in ACANA. Over a 5-7 day period, gradually mix in ACANA, increasing the amount each day so that by day 7 you are feeding 100% ACANA. Use a standard 8-ounce measuring cup. Serve dry or lightly moistened. See your veterinarian regularly. To help maintain freshness, we recommend sealing the bag tightly and storing it in a cool, dry location.

Causes urinary tract issues

DO NOT BUY! Routine urinalysis on my young cats showed that urine was not acidic enough and vet recommended switching food. Research turned up many accounts of cats suffering serious urinary tract issues after being fed this food.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cats loved it. Very happy with it. I put it in a bowl and set it out for the day. When I came home there was nothing left. With the other dry food I put out there would be some left When I got home. So yay they loved it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve tried a few different dry foods over the years, but this grain-free cat food has been one of the best. The ingredient list is clean, real meat as the first ingredient, no fillers, corn, or wheat, and you can really tell the difference in my cats health and energy. Their coats are shinier, their digestion has improved, and even my pickiest eater finishes her bowl every time. If you’re looking for a high-quality, grain-free dry food that balances good nutrition and taste, I’d highly recommend this one. My cats are thriving on it, and I feel great knowing they’re getting wholesome ingredients.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cat food is high quality, but expensive in my opinion. For a similar food with similar ingredients, you get a larger quantity for this price. My cats loved the food and again, I was impressed with the ingredients used. I would definitely recommend this for someone who likes the convenience of online shopping for food and high quality ingredients being used in their animals food.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cat was very happy with the Acana food that we tried. He ran to his bowl when he heard me open the container. No problems with eating the whole bowl. I like the amount of protein and the real ingredients. I think my cat loves this food. It is small and brown kibble.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My cats love this food. At 1st they were weird and would just smell it or look at it. But then after they tried it they really loved it. I see an improvement with them being more active than usually.

My cat loves this. We want the 12 lb bag however and can't seem to find it. Why? Aso, some pet food stores are no longer carrying this product. Why?

  1. Hi Finnywhite - Please note that not all retailers will carry all of our recipes or bag sizes. Feel free to check in with your local Petco or reach out to our Customer Care team for more information (customercare@championpetfoods.com).

Can I give this to my 8 month old kitten?

  1. Yes, this formula is suitable for kittens. Post weaning (after 5 weeks old) feed 1/4 cup for each 1lb of body weight. At 20 weeks (5 months) feed 1/8 cup for each 1lb of bodyweight. Feed as an adult at 52 weeks.

Is the Anacana cat cereal Non-GMO? I am looking for cat food thats quality, Non-GMO, No Grains, no chemicals dyes, ect..

  1. This has no grains. Read the Ingredients, this is the best food that cats in the wild's diet.

my cat has urinary crystal issues and needs low ash food. What is the ash percentage? I don't see it listed

  1. Good morning! I looked all over the bag and checked and rechecked the ingredients, and it is not even mentioned. I wonder if they do not use ash at all. You may need to call the company directly to get a definitive answer. I am really sorry I couldn't answer your question. Good luck!

Why is there no taurine in your cat food? Cats need taurine in their food to prevent blindness and certain kinds of heart disease. I do see it in dogs: Acana Beef & Pumpkin Dry Dog Food, Acana Lamb & Apple Dry Dog Food, Acana Pork & Squash Dry Dog Food

  1. Its because there is alot of good quality meat in it. Meat has natural taurine in it. Low quality dry kibble is a bad choice for your cat (feeding your cat strictly dry kibble is a bad choice even if its "high quality") fwith regard to taurine. Those kinds of cat food is made with lots of grains and little natural taurine. The taurine that they use to compensate for that lack usually comes from artificial sources. When you're visiting the grocery store or pet shop, check the list of ingredients on the label. If you see that it includes taurine as an ingredient, it is artificial because it has been added. Remember that this amino acid should already be present in natural food.
