Just like you, your cat or kitten is a unique individual and her feeding requirements will vary with breed, environment, age and activity. That's why we suggest using the feeding guide as a starting point, and monitoring your cat or kitten's weight and adjusting amounts as needed. We also recommend feeding her twice daily and always keeping fresh, clean water available. When switching diets, it's important to transition your cat or kitten as it takes time for her digestive system to adapt to the richer nutrient levels in ACANA. Over a 5-7 day period, gradually mix in ACANA, increasing the amount each day so that by day 7 you are feeding 100% ACANA. Use a standard 8-ounce measuring cup. Serve dry or lightly moistened. See your veterinarian regularly. To help maintain freshness, we recommend sealing the bag tightly and storing it in a cool, dry location.

Trying for First Time

I have tried literally every food on the market for my senior 15 yo male cat. He has had issues with constipation and must use Miralax and probiotics daily. So after finding out Blue Buffalo was not fulfilling his needs, I read about Acana Indoors and decided to give it a try. So far I have introduced it to him by feeding like a treat by hand. He seems to like it! So I will mix for a couple weeks to ween him off the old food and hopefully keep him on the Acana. It has far better ingredients and is a nice shape for easy eating. Just hope he doesn't get constipated on it.

Possibly leads to health issues

I feel absolutely devastated. I bought this because based on everything it says on the website and the packaging I believed it would be a better choice for my cat than Royal Canin. A month after switching (gradually, not suddenly), my 2-year-old cat has developed a bladder infection with crystals in her urine, which necessitates medication and veterinary food. Obviously, I cannot say for sure that it is this food by Acana that caused it but according to my cat’s vet, that is the most likely cause of the issue, so, obviously, I would not recommend this food to anyone. Maybe my cat got unlucky that this food didn’t suit her but I feel it’s important to share this experience because who knows, maybe there are others who have had the same experience and then Acana needs to reevaluate their product.

Amazing nutrition

I rescued a 4 week old approximately kitty from under a garbage bin, immediately started her on the acana products. She is now a very healthy 7 month old I can’t praise this food enough. Minimal poops with almost no odor her body is optimizing her nutrition. As a dog and cat groomer I suggest this food every opportunity I get to my clients.

Questions

My cat should weigh 12#. With A an a food, how much should he have per day? Two are seniors.

I've spent a fortune trying to get my newly adopted 8 1/2 yr old male to eat something healthy. Is there any way to get a sample or a small bag of this? I end up giving away giant bags of food and I can't keep doing this.

    1. I would go to a local pet shop. A lot of times local shops will have free samples you can take home. One of my local shops does that. The cat food companies give them little sample bags to hand out. A big chain store most likely won’t do that tho. Just a thought.
