Great Dog Food

This dog food seems to be the one that works best for my dog who has many food intolerances. The ingredient list is pretty short and is still a complete meal. I highly recommend this food.

Not Really Free-Run

Petradakia

I have a small dog (Maltese, 8lbs) and fed her two patties per day, one in the morning, one in the evening. While my dog enjoyed the patties, the 14oz bag lasted only 9 days so the cost is definitely up there. I wish instead of a bag the packaging was similar to a carton of Pringles because many of the patties in the bag were crumbled and I had to reconstruct the broken pieces into patty sized portions. What I was most disappointed about is that in the front of the bag "free-run turkey" is marketed but upon reading the back I found out they are only free-run inside the confines of a barn, never getting to run around in the fresh air or to enjoy sunlight and supposedly deprived of these natural things for their own "protection". There are ways to keep turkeys safe from predators while still providing them with access to outdoors.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 3 Pom Pom dogs and they are all on strict diets. But I'm not a monster! They deserve some treats from time to time. I got these because they seemed pretty healthy and would be a good alternative to the norm. The patties are pretty big, so I can break them up and give a piece to each of them. So it was a very economical bag! The pups LOVE them and always go nuts when i rattle the bag. 10/10. If the pups love it, then it serves its purpose.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We normally were using wet food as an occasional topper for my dogs food, but it's always a mess to get out of the pouch, and causes his food to get stuck on the side of the bowl, which mean we have to go stir it, before he can finish it. With ACANA® Freeze-Dried Food, Free-Run Turkey Recipe Patties I can break one in half and crumble it between my fingers, and just mix it straight into his food, which makes him happier because it's also faster than dealing with the pouches.

My dog loves this food!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ll start off by saying my dog is a picky eater and most of the time she doesn’t even want to eat her food. This stuff is amazing and she loves it. I could crumble it up over her dry food and she would eat the whole bowl of everything. It’s definitely a must have for any dog owner. If your dog is a picky eater or any dog at all you must try this they’re going to love it. I’m all out now so I need to go to the store to get some more. As far as the pros and cons go I don’t really have any cons other than the bag goes to quick. I have a Great Dane so she gets hungry. Pros The dog absolutely loves it and it’s a good healthy feast.

Pets love this recipe!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My pets love this recipe! Just adding a little water to the freeze-dried patties really made them gobble them right up! Even when water wasn't added and they were just crumbled on their food, they really seemed to enjoy the fresh taste also. The bag sealed great which is a plus especially because everything wasn't used during the first tasting.

Easy to serve to dog

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog really enjoys these turkey patties. They are convenient to give him a pattie and he'll go and enjoy in wherever he pleases. I unfortunately have noticed that because he has breathing issues that he does cough a lot when eating the pattie by itself. I think because of the fact that it is freeze dried that it flakes easily so when he does breathe while he eats it makes him cough. Though I can mix it in wet food and as long as it is wet itself he's fine. When opening the bag itself there is a smell but it's not overpowering. Because of the fact that I can't let him eat it just by itself the bag a freeze dried food will last us for a while. So he will be enjoy it for longer. But my dog is a happy boy when he's eating it.

What is the recommended amount of water and how long does it take to rehydrate the patties?

  1. Depends how moist you want it. I add 1 cup of spring water per patty. I crumble it up, mix and it hydrates in a few minutes.
