I received a Petco box with shedding aid and no Heat Cable inside. Therefore I cannot comment on the quality of the Product.

I've used these for years without issue. They don't put out a lot of heat but they can be used to make some nice spots for my leopard geckos to chill by creating a space between two slate rocks and threading it through. (Not crushing the cord btw) I've had more luck with this than with ceramic heaters which tend to get loose and not heat or the button gets inadvertently switched off. I do recommend a thermostat. I've never had any geckos get burns from this cable and sometimes they lay right on it. It gets about 90 on it according to my temp gun. I personally recommend these over heat mats due to the mats being plastic and glue covered which gives me a headache when it's turned on and mildly melting that glue and plastic constantly. Probably not a big deal for most but I have multiple chemical sensitivity so it is a serious issue for me.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I bought two of these for my ball pythons and they’ve lasted several years each. The flexibility and ability to change up the layout of our enclosures is also a plus. Highly recommend as a replacement for heating pads.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I’m looking at getting a boa constrictor and was wanting to know if I built a frame out of 1x2 and put plexiglass on top for a enclosure floor would that work for a decent hot spot besides the heat lamps the enclosure is going to be around 6L4T4D

I have heard of people using this to make a radiant heat panel. How much heat would this give off?

    1. Depends. I use it for 2 areas of my rack system. I know it can get really hot if you don’t have it on a stat regulating the temps

What temperature is the repti heat set for?

    1. It can go to 94 top heat

can i use this for a incubator

Looking for a 2 watt heating cable to warm my queen ants and eggs in test tubes. Is this cable a low enough wattage so that my ant queens will not get cooked?

      1. Although I’m not sure, it says about 85-95 degrees, It depends on your species.  The species I’m keeping, Camponotus Pennsylvanicus, is from temperate climates so it’s recommended heat is 80-90.  If you are unsure, try a thermostat.  Also use online souces, such as AntsCanada forums, Reddit, or Discord and see what they use.

The description states that it can be used on acrylic - could the cable also be attached to a PVC terrarium?

      1. Yes it can as long as you use a thermostat to keep it from getting too hot

Can I use this in my rack system for my ball pythons

      1. Yeah absolutely.

Can I use this with a clay pot to create a heated hidey-hole for a ball python?

Can you use underwater to heat an XL water dish?? Or k could put it underneath, its stone and kind of thick will it get hot enough to warm the water from under it??

        1. Don’t submerge it. I wouldn’t use it to heat up a water dish. If you need to use a heater built specifically for water

If it goes on the bottom of the glass tank, what type of substrate, if any, can go on top. Can you silicone or hot glue it to the side or back of tank?
