Filling instructions: Fill bottle to capacity. Water bottle work on a vacuum lock. When bottle is filled and first inverted, press the control ball and let water trickle out until vacuum develops before placing bottle in holder. Occasional dripping due to temperature causing expansion of the bottle is normal. The double ball bearing design prevents leaks. Maintenance: It is recommended to wash and rinse bottle weekly. After cleaning and refilling, make sure sealing gasket is in place. Always tighten bottle cap securely; if cap is loose, air entry can cause nonstop dripping until bottle is empty. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Not Dishwasher Safe. Always Fill Bottle Completely Full.

The container is small enough for the cage, and it holds a lot of water.

I got this for my Teddy bear hamster the day I got him and when I came home to set it up in the tank it just kept leaking at first it wasn’t bad but now it just drips and his bedding gets all wet. For now I’m using a small dish with a little amount of water in it but I’m definitely returning this today to get a new one I recommend being safe and checking if they have the double ball baring.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Leaks...but there appears to be a solution!

Got this water bottle for a couple bucks for my new hamster. I was very worried that it would leak (because a lot of reviews said so and water bottles are notorious for leaking anyway). It did at first, BUT I found a solution! 1. Bang the base of the bottle on the table so that all the water leaves the metal tube. When you turn it right side up again, it should no longer be leaking. 2. When you fill it up, dry the entire exterior of the bottle before screwing the cap back on. 3. Before installing it onto the cage, tip it upside down to make sure it doesn't leak first. This way you can avoid the mess in the cage. 4. If it still drips occasionally, put a small ceramic food bowl under the spout so that the water doesn't wet the bedding and make a mess. 5. When your animal drinks from it, watch for air bubbles to ensure that it's getting water. 6. To attach it to glass aquariums, I used 6 lbs. command strips. It's light enough such that it sticks even despite the curvature of the bottle.

Yes, I recommend this product.

can this be used for hamsters?

  1. Yes.  It is fine for hamsters.

So today I was cleaning my robo hamsters water bottle and the little green turtle inside went down the drain :( do you think I can still use it

  1. The turtle is just a level reminder to remind you to refill their bottle when water gets low nothing more

does this go to the small water bottle protector?

Is this a good water bottle for a hedgehog?

    1. Hi katieeeeee, Yes, this will be good for a hedgehog. Thanks,

Does this work well for guinea pigs? Also, do two guinea pigs need two different water bottles? Thx!

    1. This is a perfect water bottle for guinea pigs because it doesn’t leak like so many others do!  If you have two piggies, you don’t need a second water bottle, they will share the one!

Is this size suitable for a chinchilla?

    1. Yes

Does the spout fit through a habitat with 3/8 bar spacing?

    1. Hi Gordon75319n Outside diameter of tube is 5/16” It should fit through but depends on thickness of bars. The spacing is considered 6/16 so you can see not much spare room. Thanks,

Is there a picture of it mounted in a cage? When you put the hooks over the bar, it doesn't hold the water bottle tight enough to keep it in place. Wondering if there is a trick or a picture to show how it works. Thanks! Kathy

    1. Try securing it with zip ties. Good luck!

Does this connect to glass habitats?

    1. I know that this question is two years old, but other people may want to know as well. This does not come with the attachment for a glass habitat but, you can buy a small or medium YNME attachment separately. They are on this website.

    Is it good for mice?

    1. Hi Khrishtina, Yes, this is good for mice. Thanks,
