Description

It seems like everyone loves Anthias these days, but you mostly see Lyretails on display. If you're looking for something a little different, try the Evansi Yellowback Anthias. These hardy fish have brilliant color and are very active, but also appreciate multiple hiding areas. They are typically found in large groups within the Indian Ocean above outer reef slopes, so adding multiples will help mimic their natural environment. The Evansi Yellowback Anthias will grow to be about 4" in length. They are best kept with other fast moving boisterous fish that can compete with them for resources and food. It is suggested to feed this Anthias multiple times per day as they have very fast metabolisms. For continued health, provide a varied diet of meaty frozen foods, and over time they should accept marine flakes and small pellets. Their body is purple in coloration with a vibrant, thick yellow stripe running on the top half of its body, and an orange stripe from its nose to pectoral fin.

  • - Add to an aquarium with ample rockwork and swimming room
  • - Great for the moderate hobbyist
  • - For continued health, provide a varied diet of meaty foods and vegetable-based foods multiple times a day
  • - Minimum tank size: 80 gallons (depending on size of harem)
  • - Approximate selling size: Small 1"-2"; Medium 2"-3"
  • - Reef Safe

ACCLIMATION: Avoid exposing new aquatic life to bright lights after opening the box. Turn off aquarium lights prior to floating aquatic life. Allow the sealed bag with your new fish to float in your aquarium for at least 15 minutes (but no longer than one hour) to ensure the water in the bag matches the temperature in your aquarium. A bacteria booster addition can assist with the addition of new aquatic life. Petco offers free water testing in store to determine if your water is safe for the addition of new aquatic life. DIET: A well-balanced diet consists of a variety of flakes, pellets, freeze-dried and frozen foods, depending on the species. FEEDING: Feed sparingly and no more than fish can eat in 1-2 minutes. Overfeeding can quickly foul the water, especially in smaller aquariums.
