Best first aid essentials for rats?
I bought a critter cage for my rat. It has powder coated wire bars on the floor of the cage with a litter tray under it. I've read conflicting reports on whether the wire bars on the floor could hurt the rat's feet? What is the medical opinion?
hello! So I bought this cage for 1 Guinea pig (it’s a long story as to why I’m getting 1 piggy) and I’ve heard the measurements are just right and everything, but I wanted to ask a vet to make sure. I’m sending pictures of the hutch :) Thank you so much!
I have four pet rats, about 7 months old. I've noticed recently that their pee is smelling EXTREMELY strong, not at all their usual cage smell. We've been having to change their bedding every day because the smell is burn your nose strong as if we've been letting it sit for days. We haven't changed their bedding type (we use recycled paper bedding). We recently changed their diet, though, as recommended by our usual vet. They are on oxbow rat pellets and weekly fruits & veggies. Help??
My pet rat got his leg stuck in the cage one week ago, he has been on amoxicillin since then and I also spay Vetericyn Plus on his leg twice a day. Is there anything else I can do to help the wound heal. He is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping regularly.
I know rats should have free Rome time everyday. And they do but they have seem to have gotten bored with just exploring my room what are somethings that u can do with them to work they brains and have a successful play time. Also how long should they be our. They probably get about 45 a day normally
Hi, so my pet Rat cookie is getting old now and has lost feeling in 1 of his back legs but has no issues getting around but due to him not being able to use it he can't climb properly and has been getting his leg caught in the bars, would it be cruel of me to swap him and his brother out to a slightly smaller cage that would be easier for him to explore, as I'm terrified he will break his leg
My pet rat approx 7 weeks old escaped and was missing for 3 days. Returned showing signs of severe to chronic pain. 2 days squinted eyes, hunched, head tucked, guarding, faced corner of cage. Minimal food and water consumption. Please how can I help her? I cannot take her to the vet at this time.
My rats need new chew toys and I want to get the best ones I am open to all types
My rat is a baby, maybe 8 weeks now. He seems happy but he keeps half closing his eye and it's got dried eye stuff in front of it. It looks like dried porphyrin because it's dark. I've had him for 3 weeks and I've held him quite a bit. He really has nothing to be stressed about.
My pet rat is breathing very hard and has porphyrin coming out of his nose.
Is this a wild rat or a rat bought from the store? And what type of rat is this
