The filter this tank comes with is trash. I had to return twice because the filter it came with is broken, the new one I have now died within two months of use. The plastic tank itself gets very foggy and is cheap feeling

The filter and lights stopped working after a month and a half. Unfortunately, by the time I was able to get to my local Petco store in Huntersville, NC the aquarium was 6 days past return policy. The associate recommended that I contact the manufacturer/distributor. Petco is the manufacturer/distributor. Not only am I out of the cost of the aquarium but also the bulk amount of filters because I replaced the aquarium with another aquarium from PetSmart.

Update: fix was only temporary. It stopped working again and now if you leave the filter plugged in, the lights flash.

Owned for several months, possibly over a year, but the motor stopped working. I discovered this is due to a poor material choice on the impeller. It is made of nylon, which EXPANDS WHEN IT GETS WET. I disassembled the pump, clearanced the impeller, put it all back together and it works again! We'll see how long it lasts this time.

Wow, Petco sells this? Of course they do! This bowl might be good for cultivating pond snails if you have a pea puffer who needs to eat snails (but you don't want to overfeed in your tank to encourage their population expansion there) or perhaps for daphnia cultures, but for real, a betta is pictured in here??? Petco, stop counting on the ignorant or indifferent to buy these products and contributing directly to animal suffering. Bettas need more than this, including a heater. This is why you have such a poor reputation even among people who shop there for the things their pets need.

What heater would be compatible with this tank Also can the filter be left on at all times ?

I have never used a heater in my tank because of its location in my house. It would need to be small and not touch the sides of an oval tank because the tank is not glass. I suggest contacting the company that makes Imaginariums. It’s on the paperwork that comes with the tank. You can find them online too. They have a great customer service department.

Can the lights be used without the filter? I want to purchase this tank, i am making a habitat for a couple of moss balls, just marimo moss balls, no fish. I don't need a filter, just the tank and the LEDs.

The filter for my tank broke, what is a good replacement filter I can buy? I can't find the same filter anywhere and my water is getting green.

How do I slow down the current of the filter? I just got the tank and put my fish in and they just stay at the top under the filter when I shut it off they swim around more.

Hi Gianna22, No, the flow of this filter is unable to be adjusted. We recommend placing some plastic plants around the filter which will slow down the flow/current of the water dispersed from the filter. We also recommend to decorate the aquarium with a resin ornament (i.e. cave, flower pot, or other décor) to create a comfortable place for your pet to rest and hide. We firmly believe this will help you and your fish inside this 3.1G Imagitarium Kit. Thanks

my betta fish keeps getting stuck to the filter and him being stuck on it creates a really loud noise that makes it hard to sleep at night with, i don’t know what to do, it’s scary because my fish is always there

Power filters function by drawing aquarium water into the filter to purify the water before returning it back to the aquarium. Fish typically like to find places to hide and rest periodically and sometimes will hide behind the filter. We recommend placing some plastic plants around the filter and to decorate the aquarium with a resin ornament (i.e. cave, flower pot, or other décor) to create a comfortable place for your pet to rest and hide. My filter is not working and I was dealing with it to make it work but now it’s not working anymore and it was so hot and that makes the water has high temperature and my Beta died. Now I bought another Beta but I don’t know where to buy the filter.
