Part of guppy food rotation

Ray in New Jersey

Rotated with TetraMin and Hikari FD Brine Shrimp, my guppies eagerly devour Hikari FD Tublifex Worms. Feed no more than they will eat in a few minutes four or five times a day.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Pond comets love it!

My once-shy pond fish now swim up whenever they see me, and will eat these right out of my fingers. If you have smaller fish, you might want to break apart the cubes (very easy to do) to help them out--but even without doing that, just a little while in the water softens them enough for little guys to start nibbling them up. Note though that these are just a *treat,* not primary diet material!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Excellent! Great for amphibians

My paddletail newt absolutely loves these! The worms come stuck together in little cubes that can be broken apart nicely into newt-sized pieces, and generally stay together in the water as my newt eats. The worm cubes do break apart slightly in the water, but not so much that the tank ends up with a ton of tiny floating worms in it (some do end up floating around, but it's far less than other freeze dried food cubes, and they're not too hard to clean). All in all one of the best foods I've given my newt, both for ease of feeding and how much he enjoys eating it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great Quality Food for Guppies and Snail Safe!

FaedraT

My Guppies just totally love this food! This is the first time ever trying tubifex worms. I was mainly trying to find different types of foods for my guppies that didn't contain any sort of Copper Sulfates because if you didn't know Copper sulfates are harmful to snails and all my tanks contain snails whether they be nerites, pond snails, or my prized mystery snails. I had watched many videos online about people feeding their fish live tubifex worms so I thought I would give freeze dried ones a try and my fish go crazy for this food. It doesn't make a mess of the tank, it pretty much just floats on the top.. I also like to hold the cube between my fingers and let the fish eat it that way. This is defiantly a trusted brand and I will defiantly be ordering this again when I run out.

Yes, I recommend this product.

How to use this product

Fish are FUN

There are a few ways to use this product. It comes in small cubes. 1) you could put the cube in a small dish with water to rehydrate the worms. Then swish it around to separate the tiny worms. Then add to your tank. 2) Smash a cube to the side of the tank just below the water line and the fish will pick of the cube little by little. 3) Take a cube and take it apart while still dry and feed to your fish little by little. I use method 3. If you have a small amount of fish you could just use a portion of the cube. Both my fresh & saltwater fish love these tubifex worms. I also feed my fish Wardley flakes, Hikari freeze dried blood worms, Hikari freeze dried brine shrimp, Hikari algae wafers, Hikari micro wafers, and sometimes frozen brine shrimp.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Sort by: Newest Answers

Are tubifex safe and/or good for axolotls? Thank you!

  1. We suggest Sinking Carnivore as a much better option for daily feeding

Can this be fed to newts?

  1. Sure! But we suggest in small amounts at a time to avoid overfeeding and water quality issues that can result.

koi fish babies and big koi eat these?

  1. Thank you for your question. The manufacturer does not recommend giving the Tubifex to baby koi as the amount given could overwhelm the digestive system. They would much rather see a baby pellet of a formulated koi diet, as it would have a better nutrient mix providing all components required for good long term health.

Where is the best place to store Hikari FD foods once opened?

  1. I keep mine in the refrigerator for at least 3 months and it's still appealing to my fish.

Can the tubifex worms be fed to finches (birds)?

  1. Thank you for your question. We do not recommend feeding the Bio-Pure Food Tubifex Worms to finches. The tubifex worms are not a typical food source for finches. The tubifex worms are meant to be a food source for tropical fish, turtles, and some reptiles. Mealworms are an acceptable choice for finches requiring a higher protein diet, such as breeding finches. Most finches do well on a pelleted diet with fresh vegetables and a small amount of seeds. We recommend discussing your finches’ dietary requirements with your veterinarian.

Can bettas eat these as treats?

  1. I am sure the Hikari freeze dried products would be a nutritious treat for bettas. It would add some variety too.

Can the freeze dried tubifex be fed to red eared slider turtles ? Thank you for answering.

  1. Thank you for your question. The Red Eared Sliders will eat Freeze Dried Tubiflex Worms as a supplement along with other meaty foods.

what is best for mollys, hatchets, cleaner shrimp and a miniature blue lobster

  1. Hatchet fish seem to love the blood worms. I am sure the mollies would like them too. I have seen cleaner shrimp go to the surface upside down and eat food at the surface before. I don't think that the food would sink to get to the lobster however.

Do any of these freeze dried products sink?

  1. I have not had a problem with the sinking of this fish food...water pumps can circulate the food around some.

is this good for oscars?

  1. Seems like a good idea to me. Freeze dried krill, bloodworms, and brine shrimp are definietly less messy then frozen. I think it should be fine. Just remember their in cube form like frozen.
