Step 1: Introduce a new queen is during the late afternoon or early evening when most of the bees are back in the hive. Step 2: Remove the wooden plug from the end of the queen cage and replace it with a small piece of marshmallow taking care to not release the queen. The marshmallow will be eaten by the bees, allowing the queen to be safely introduced to the new hive. Step 3: Select a frame in the hive that has open brood and nurse bees. Gently remove this frame and set it aside. Step 4: Insert the queen cage between the frames, with the candy plug facing up and the screen of the cage exposed to the bees. Step 5: Close the hive, making sure there are no gaps for escape. Step 6: Leave the hive alone for 3-4 days while the worker bees become familiar with the queen's pheromones. Step 7: After 3-4 days, open the hive and inspect the queen cage. If the queen has been released, remove the empty cage. Step 8: Continue to monitor the hive for signs of queen acceptance.

Keep packaged bees cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.
