The African Red Tip Sea Stars are eye catching and hardy, but they get overlooked a lot because of the niche they live in. They are found in tidal pool and in deep reefs up to 100 feet. They will eat just about anything, including other starfish, corals, clams, etc. Because of their diet this sea star is definitely not reef safe. Like all sea stars, they could become a meal for fish that are so inclined like some wrasses and puffers. Drip acclimation is always recommended for inverts and this sea star is not an exception, as they are very susceptible to sudden shifts in salinity and pH. They should never be exposed to copper-based medications or air while handling. Even though the African Red Tip Sea Star is a scavenger, be sure to supplement their diet with meaty frozen (thawed) foods.

Hi there, I m Alexis and I am from Malaysia. I have an Indian Star tortoise. Recently I noticed that its eyes are a little red. Does tortoises' eyes always have a little redness in them or is there is something else (ie maybe there is an infection or something).

My tortoise has what appears to be fluids (red so probably blood) in between carapace and plastron. Closest thing I could find online to what it looks like was someone posting about their tortoise falling of a hide log and sustaining trauma, but my enclosure doesn't have anything to fall off of. It doesn't look like shell rot that I've seen before. About 2 weeks prior it started rubbing it's head on it's legs and it's skin seemed dry so I feed it more romain lettuce and soaked it a bit more.
