Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. t/d diet, dentisticks and other dental care treats have minimal beneficial effect if any. Cleaning teeth daily and regular dental checks work much better. Please, stick to that, as dental care diets are in my opinion, not worth the money.

The key here is extreme moderation. If you give too much of something that is not formulated to be S/O friendly, you compromise the diet and then it doesn’t work. It should be fine to give Sadie a carrot stick or a couple sugar peas once a day. The absolute best majority of her intake should be either the diet or the urine friendly treats. I would probably avoid giving her meat products. Stick to the veggies as this will help control weight as well. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Royal canin is one of the most effective prescription diets for lver conditions and if he is doing well I would be slow to change away from it unless you knew the underlying condition had been resolved. Hills l/d is a similar diet which you could also look at. If dental health is an issue despite regular brushing then a full dental exam and cleaning would be recommended as well as an assessment for any complicating factors such as retained puppy teeth or poor dental alignment

The various sensitive skin formulas on Royal Canin's website all are listed to include grains. Royal Canin diets have not been known to correlate with the development of DCM in dogs, so I would not worry about this too much. If this diet is too expensive, consider discussing alternative options with your vet. A novel protein diet may be a reasonable option but it is hard to recommend a diet without knowing what the cause of your dog's allergies are. I recommend trying to buy larger bags as they are more cost-effective and consider price hunting on various websites.

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Royal Canin is a great brand. It has been around for a very long time, and the company performs a large amount of testing to confirm that the food has the appropriate levels of nutrients. The weight control diet likely has a larger amount of fiber in it to keep Chloe satisfied longer. To help Chloe lose weight, you can also cut down the treats and replace with things like ice cubes, string beans, or baby carrots in small amounts. I hope this helps!
